Kristen Watsonsoprano, hailed by critics for her “blithe and silvery” tone and “winning stage presence”, recently toured as a soprano soloist with Boston Baroque in their Grammy-award nominated performance of Monteverdi’s Vespers of 1610, performing at Ravinia, Tanglewood, and as part of the inaugural season at the newly built Disney Hall in Los Angeles. A native of Topeka , KS , Ms. Watson also made her debut at Boston ’s Symphony Hall in 2003 as the soloist in Handel’s Laudate Pueri Dominum with the Handel and Haydn Society. Opera audiences have heard her in Boston Lyric Opera/Opera New England’s production of Hansel and Gretel (Sandman/Dewfairy), Boston University Opera Institute productions of A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Tytania), Die Fledermaus (Adele), and The Medium  (Monica); Opera Boston’s production of The Crucible (Sarah Good); and with Opera Theater of Pittsburgh in The Cunning Little Vixen
 
Regional musical theater performances include Carousel (Carrie) starring Shirley Jones, The King and I (Tuptim), Titanic (Eleanor Widener), and Into the Woods (Witch). Other concert appearances include Bach’s Mass in B Minor with the Columbus Bach Ensemble, Handel’s Gloria and Bach’s Jauchzet Gott at the Cactus Pear Music Fesitval in San Antonio, and Schutz's Musikalische Exequien with the Pittsburgh Camerata. Ms. Watson has also been a featured soloist as part of the Bach Cantata Series at Emmanuel Music under the leadership of Craig Smith.  
 
Other recent performances include The Fairy Queen (soprano soloist) with Boston Baroque, and Dido and Aeneas (Spirit) with the Handel and Haydn Society.  The Medium marked Kristen's debut with Intermezzo and she added Laetitia in Menotti's The Old Maid and the Thief in 2005.
