The Boston-based Intermezzo Chamber Opera Company will present American composer Gian-Carlo Menotti’s classic one-act opera The Old Maid and the Thief at Eastern Nazarene College as a part of the schools’ Musica Eclectica Concert Series. The opera, which is in English, will be performed in its original form as a "live" radio broadcast, featuring a sound-effects artist and an old-fashioned "applause" sign. The performance will occur on Saturday, September 24th at 7:30 in the Mann Student Center Auditorium on the Quincy campus of Eastern Nazarene College. Tickets are $15/ general admission, $10/seniors , and $5/students, and are available at the door. More information, including directions, may be found at www.musica-eclectica.org, www.intermezzo-opera.org, or by calling 617-745-3715. The ENC campus is a ten-minute walk from the Red Line (Wollaston stop/Braintree train). Parking is free.

"The Musica Eclectica concert series exists to enrich the cultural life of Boston, the South Shore, and the ENC campus by presenting musical performances drawn from a wide range of styles," said Delvyn Case, Artistic Director and founder of the series. Case is an assistant professor of music at ENC and a visiting professor at Boston College. Upcoming concerts include jazz, pop, classical, bluegrass, and gospel music. "This fall’s lineup of concerts is spectacular by any measure, and its variety is unmatched by any college in the Boston area," said Prof. Lambert Brandes, Chair of the ENC Music Department. A schedule of Fall 2005 concerts may be found at the end of this release.
